Minutes of the Whiteplains Pilots Association
November 20, 2001
Held at the John and Vickie Gardner’s Estate on the Plantation
President Dick Hitt opened the Meeting of the WP Pilot’s Association at 7:16 p.m.
Dick welcomed everyone, presented an Agenda for the meeting, and stated the Purpose of the
Association.
The minutes of the last meeting were reviewed. However, the last meeting was held after the Breakfast
Club Fly In and there were only three people present. The meeting was reported to be short with
lots of backslapping and hand shaking. No real business was conducted.

going to donate (or loan) a bush hog for use at the airport.
New Business:
Bruce Money sent a letter to Dick Hitt complaining about noise. This is Mr. Money's second letter.
It seems the major complaint stemmed from the breakfast fly in. Mr. Money's letter is available for
examination and a copy was distributed at this meeting. Dick responded with a letter explaining our
efforts to minimize the noise, etc. Dick's letter is available for examination and a copy was handed
out at the meeting.
Further: We will put a sign requesting a right turn of 20 degrees (south) on RW 9. We discussed the
use of RW 9 or 27 as the "no wind" departure and late night activity. No decision was made concerning
a "no wind" standard. We determined the late night activity was rare and since the lights go off a 11
p.m. there are only rare landings / departures after 11 (maybe 2 in recent memory.)
LET IT BE SAID AND KNOWN: The pilot in command must make the decision to land / depart as needed to
maintain control of the aircraft in using the Whiteplains airport, HOWEVER, please be aware of our neighbors
and their desire to live in a peaceful, quiet, environment. We have motorcycles, trucks, and other ground
vehicles passing through our neighborhood that make more noise than our airplanes, but the perception
of airplanes and their dangers are more acute. Do what YOU can to help this perception. Also, spread
the word with your visiting Pilot friends about the 20-degree departure.
Niel B. Dennis P. and Ray A. are going to visit the "horse" people - off the end of 9, to see if the
20 degree departure is OK with them.
We discussed a curfew at WP. It was decided we would not institute a curfew at this time, but that the
pilots of WP will operate in a safe and prudent manner regarding our neighbors.
BE IT RESOLVED: By Motion, Second, and Majority Vote, the Whiteplains Pilots Association decided that it
MAY or MAY NOT use the Whiteplains Homeowners Treasurer as the Pilots Association's Treasurer. The Pilot's
Association will determine on an annual basis whether to ELECT a Pilot's Association Treasurer or to use
the Homeowners' Association's Treasurer. NOTE: The same resolution NEEDS to be presented at the Whiteplains
Homeowners Board Meeting.
BE IT RESOLVED: By Motion, Second, and Majority Vote, the Whiteplains Pilots Association decided to
REQUIRE a 10-pound, ABC, Fire Extinguishers be installed on the exterior, at or near the entrance door of
EACH hangar at Whiteplains. NOTE: The same resolution NEEDS to be presented at the Whiteplains
Homeowners Board Meeting.
John Gardner is investigating "bulk" purchasing of the required extinguishers.
BE IT RESOLVED: By Motion, Second, and Majority Vote, the Pilots Association will meet on the third Monday
of each month, except December.
Location will be either Niel B.'s hangar or John G.'s garage.
Don Mostler won the 50/50 drawing.
The meeting adjourned about 9 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted:
Terry R. Yon, Secretary
