Old Business:
We reviewed the previous meetings minutes.
On the Action Item List, number 016 was postponed until the May meeting (turn right 20 decree sign.)
Number 020 – storage shed. Niel reported a project cost of $3096 at today’s prices (no labor.) A notion was made and seconded to and to start a fund (target budget $4000) to build the storage shed. $100 donation per Pilot is our target to establish the $3000+ needed for the shed. Jim Wheat and Ray Ackerman paid $100 at the meeting to start the fund. Thanks to Jim and Ray. Dennis Perry, Ray Ackerman and Niel Bonacum were selected / volunteered for the shed committee. John Gardner will write a letter soliciting donations (Dennis Perry to proof the letter.)
Item 012, spare parts for the runway lights. A new set of lights was purchased as spares. Bill Como is storing the spares in his hangar. Thanks, Bill.
Pat Corbet, airplane wash: declined by the Pilots. Young Eagles declined for April 20. Dennis Perry mentioned the Moncks Corner EAA Young Eagle’s event for next Saturday at 9:30 a.m. They are expecting 200+ children and they need help.
Confirmation of 4/27/02 social event: Confirmed. 4:00 p.m. at Ray’s hangar. Pilots will supply food. We need covered dishes for side items. Chicken is the main course. John Gardner, Dennis Perry, Ray Ackerman, and Tommy Robbins form the event committee. John Gardner will solicit donations from Pilot’s with their own businesses to cover the cost.
New Business:
Dennis Perry: The mowing season is approaching. There are about 6 months of mowing each year. We need 4 volunteers each month to do the mowing. The mowing requires 4 or so hours once a week. To sign up, contact Dennis Perry, John Gardner or Terry Yon. Soon!
People are driving up to and on the runway at the 27 end. The taxiway to the runway looks like a road when approached from the Phase II end. We decided to barricade the entrance. John Gardner volunteered to put up cones and a yellow ribbon.
Niel Bonacum warned everyone about air traffic for Sun & Fun.
Safety:
Dick presented a safety presentation on Thunderstorms, which included a nice handout from the FAA. Several of the attending Pilots had some very interesting stories to share regarding their experiences with flying in thunderstorms.
Drawing:
Lloyd Krueger won the $36 50/50 drawing and donated the money back to the association. Thanks, Lloyd.
The next Pilots Association meeting will be May 20, 2002 7:00 p.m.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
